My ABS-CBN Wowowee Audition

Earlier this afternoon Willie Revillame announced at 1:45pm that everybody within ages 16 to 25 years old, with “Jr” in their names are invited to join the Willie of Fortune and have a chance to win over P100,000 in cash plus any of the following: multicab, scooter, pedicab or a small business franchise.
Since I am a “Jr” (Alfredo Jr), I was so excited to join that I immediately left to go to ABS-CBN and try my luck in the audition. I arrived an hour later (2:45pm) and found out that there are already 50+ contestants lining up for the audition. The security guard said we will have to wait until 5:30pm before the audition can begin. OMG! Did you know how many in total who showed up? Over 900! Remember, only 6 contestants are needed for the Willie of Fortune, which makes it very difficult for me or any of us to be selected.
Many of the contestants are jobless or have a very low paying job, married where only the husband or the wife is working, highschool graduates, nothing to do at home, and have free time in the afternoon. Many workers have taken half-day work today just to join the audition and are planning to be absent at work tomorrow if chosen.
Since here are almost a thousand of us waiting for the audition, the audition committee announced that they will only be taking 40 out of 900+ contestants for the elimination round by placing our names on a piece of paper which would be randomly hand-picked by them (…and I thought coming early would help, a lesson here for all who want to join the Wowowee Audition). Unfortunately, I was NOT chosen :-(. After the 40 are chosen, they will each be interviewed and will be asked to show their talents (dance or sing) and after that, the 6 finalists will be announced.
Before leaving the place, the security guard said to come back tomorrow at 7am if we want and have a chance to join the Bigat 10. Did you know that the bigaten are actually pre-selected? Yes! They will select 20 from the audience who came in the morning before the show and later these 20 people will wait to be called by Willie, and only 10 out of the 20 pre-selected are allowed to join the bigaten. Hmmm… and I thought the bigaten are random contestants. UPDATE: Many now confirm that the bigaten contestants are NOT PRE-SELECTED as seen on the actual show when they dance their way to be chosen.
A lesson learned in joining popular TV contests:
- Hundreds will join as well. Most of the contestants are jobless, married and nothing to do at home.
- They will randomly pick the hundreds of contestants, instead of interviewing each of them. Being early will not help. Just be there before the closing hours.
- Be prepared in showing your talents, don’t bother joining if you have nothing to show.
- It is going to be a very long, hot and tiring time to all contestants waiting for the audition.
- If you are willing to wait and luck is on your side and you are chosen as one of the few who will get to play in the game, I can say that everything you have gone through will really be worth it.
Update: Hello everyone, I just want to let you all know that I have no personal, direct and indirect connection with Willie or the Wowowee staff. I am simply one of many who loved Wowowee. There was time someone asked me if I have Willie’s phone number, I am sorry to let you guys know I don’t have his phone and even if I do, I am sure he wouldn’t want it to be given to everybody.

@rosell, most likely theyll be there soon, as long as Willie can stay focused on his job now there is an issue about his troubled marriage. Wowowee went to my hometown weeks back and people really enjoyed watching it live

Note to everybody:
We are all human and of course we make lots of mistake. My point is Poor Willie is always the target. Just little things he said and do, napapansin and people will make it as a big deal. Willie is not God– Give him a break… I hope Willie will overcome all these problems and pagsubok sa buhay niya. He is just like us, doing his job and trying to survive!. Peace to everybody. Baby–

Last sept. 23, 2006, I went to abs-cbn (together with my husband teody and our ka-tropa: tropang gilbeys of Lucena Cit) to watch wowowee live! And during willie’s interaction with the audience, i was lucky enough to be chosen as one of the bigaten contestant…at hindi totoong pre-selected n ang mga contestants for that segment (walang alam ung guard na nagsabi s u nun!)Unluckily, natalo ako sa question and answer portion ng bigaten…pero i didn’t feel bad or sad for that matter, ‘coz it was something tlga na nakasali ako (sa dami kc ng audience aspiring to be one of those lucky chosen contestants eh, ako nga ang napili ni willie), and i love dancing boom tarat tarat…which my husband taught me how b4 we go to wowowee (my husband is an avid fan of wowowee, his favorites are luningning and milagring) and luckily, they met b4 my husband went onboard…the truth is, i made their picture (luningning and my husband teody) printed in a tarpuline and he brought it along onboard…so, for those who wanted to be a bigaten contestant, just show your moves in dancing “boom tarat tarat” and walahhh!: it’ll be ur lucky day when you were chosen…gud luck!!!

yeah i agree with you weng. the bigaten really looked random i dont know why the guard mentioned the pre-selected bigaten to us right after the willie of fortune audition.

I just want to let you know that we’re just one of the Filipinos dito sa US na nasasayahan talaga sa wowowee show n’yo. Therapy sa amin ito, and can’t tell u how many many more ang natutuwa, the young and olds alike. Kaya lang sana paminsan-minsan i-translate naman young ibang language nyo sa English para sa mga fans/mga anak kong hindi masyado nakakaintindi ng Tagalog. Even my 2 yrs old sings and dances boom tarat tarat.

Sir Willie,natuwa po ako kasi nakita ko na pwede ako sa hinahanap nyo na young lola pero nalungkot ako kasi pilitin ko man di ako aabot sa given time nyo,manggagaling kasi ako ng Olongapo City.at pag ordinary bus(yun kasi ang afford kong sakyan) 4 hrs ang biyahe. wow,people are really lot of comment,but the truth is wowowee high rating tv show for me and my wife and i guess kanya kanya lang time yandi naman kaila from side kick to intriga willie pass all those things so wish lang namin sana kung nakakatulong ang wowowee sa mahihirap,t.f.c. will help too not like yong napapanood namin na t.f.c. nakuha sa bigaten pag nakuha at nanalo kinukuha pa yong panalo nila please why dont we just give it back to the poor. thanks johnnie of vancouver

Hello Mr. Willie Revillame,
We recently had the TFC channel installed , and my mother who is 84 years old , loves to watch your show. Believe ME or NOT! The only thing she will remember on the TFC channel is WOWOWEE. She has Alzeimer’s disease ( ulyanin or makakalimutin)na sakit. I have to put an orange sticker on the on/off button so that she knows how to turn on/off the TV if she wants to watch your show. Even me, I think your show is addictive! You are SUPER WILLIE!! I also like your two co - hosts, Janelle and Marielle. Two is enough , three it makes your show disorganized.
My main concern right now is your VOICE. It seems you are loosing your voice. As much as you can please take a break every now and then. It might damage your voice box and you will end up having surgery at the end.(huwag naman po sana). You are an INCRIDIBLY talented person Willie. You are helping a lot of people in the Philippines thru your show. You know what I like about you? you are giving the opportunity for older people. Don’t you know you are making me cry everytime you choose the old ones? I said to myself, you are very generous person.
I saw last week. I couldn’t remember the name of one of the contestant. He is “PINABAE” or “BAKLING” is that how called in the Philippines?. You choose him too because he has the talent like “ULENG”. You know what? He could speak English. I think he is a good partners of your show.

Ang mother ko ay #1 tagahanga ng wowowee. Kararating lang niya dito sa Wisconsin noong January 31st galing siya sa Castellejos, Zambales and she’s now very homesick. I would like to take her to see the show in Chicago tour that is coming soon, could anybody PLEASE help me. Who could I call to get more information about this show? Willie, more power to you and your game show! I really like the 3 emcees like Janelle(she is very beautiful and simple, articulate, professional but down to earth and most of all I like her voice! Is she a professional singer at all? Ms. Guinoo (I am sorry I forgot her first name)is very beautiful (I am very addictive to look at her face)nice dresser, funny and professinal.Mariel, is not only beautiful but she is also very cute! I like the way she emotes and make cute faces on tv, professional and carries herself well! The ASF Dancers are all great and they deserve a raise for they dance fantastic and most of all, they are the spice of the show! Without their numbers (which is very tiring)the show will not be as jolly! Please treat them well!

It has been a pleasure to watch your t.v. show. My family and friends enjoyed your wonderful and happiest show in the world. You are not only number 1 but world’s best entertaining show. Everytime we watch your show, our problems difficulties and anxiety are all wipe-out. My only comment is: when your green, red and yellow dancers start to perform, please tell the camera man not to move so fast. We are getting dizzy. We love to see your dancers without feeling dizziness. They have done a great job!

Atlast makakapag comment narin me, i have so many things to tell bout this show,many thing that’s touching
but unfortunately i lack time.
I wanna be direct…Masama kasi loob namin ’bout dun sa ino audition nila na host for wowowee,we know na hindi lang yon para sa host,marami-rami din silang kukunin.
That momment many find there luck ‘coz kuya willy said, “kahit ordinaryong tao ka lang puede ka makuha basta may talento.” perhaps kasali na dun kahit hindi kutis artista pero may itsura naman at talent.We are waiting for the new host for so long,we watch wowowee almost everyday para abangan kung sinong nakuha,but we’re embarassed na until now,wala palang kinuha from the original na nag audition,eh! sino bang kinuha?.YEs its Roxanne, mabuti nalang po si Roxanne okey lang sya para sa amin, we have nothing against her,pero how about the people who sacrifice a part of their time just to find a luck in wowowee? Saan na yong sinasabi nila na kahit ordinaryong tao ka lang,i know that u know na hindi lahat ng talent eh nilabas ng mga nag audition that time,but u have the capacity to understand Maam/Sir that they have the potential,me i can say to myself that i have it,but I’m not so confident na makuha! and I’m ready na hindi rin ma approved but,what i was waiting for eh makita naman na may kinuha sila from the girls na nagu audition,u know hindi talaga madali mag audition,ngayon ko lang nalaman mas lalong hindi madali pumila para sa game show.Hope u can open the files and videos again from the peoplke na nag audirion, I’m sure marerealiza nyo rin na meron ding karapat-dapat sa kanila.

Today is 23 April 2007 ang mga contestants ay mga kasamang bahay. Di alam na natin na mga mahihirap sila at nasabi rin na P3,000 a month and sahod nila, diba nararamdam natin ang hirap ng kalagayan nila. Pero iyon mga TFC na nasa Bigatin MGA WALANG PUSO sila. Hindi naman sila pumunta sa WOWOWEE para maghanap buhay eh pinapatulang nila iyong mga mahihirap at kadalasan mababa lang ang napagaralan. Nakakaiinis makita sila na ang ganda pa ng tawa nila hindi nila alam na maraning suya at galit sa kanilana mga TFC sa boong mondo at mga local.
Wowowee should tell these people before the show to show heart to the contestants.

I watch the show yesterday 6/13/2007. Bakit sabi nyo “none of the above “yung taning sa “who discovered electricty” di ba si Benjamin Franklin? Paki ckeck naman sa mga researcher nyo? Kaya tuloy walang nanasali sa PERA o BAYONG! Atsaka bat iba na ang concept nyo, sabi nyo para sa mga Filipino tila ayaw nyong ibigay ang 1 million o 2 million, bakit may UWI, HINDI O LIPAT dati di naman ganon… syempre yung mga tao na noon lang nakakita ng konting pera kaya na ba bribe an sila. Parang maytagal ng walang nanakakakuha nyan! Para ba talaga sa mga Filipino yan o show lang? Kawawa yung mga tao . Sana tatlo nalang yung choices ulit confuse tiluoy yung mag tao. paki dagadgan naman ng variety ang show. Boring tuloy.

Hallo, kuya Willie! Greetings from Malitbog Southern Leyte. Am watching wowowee everyday. You’re program is the number one here and all over the world ‘yan ang appetizer namin sa aming pananghalian, ja, tootoo yan kuya, our lunch is not complete with out wowowee……………. kuya willie father ko po’ 77 yrs. old, matagal nya nang pinangarap to attend wowowee on your studio. You know po’ kuya he got highblood stoke for 5 times since 2002 but he’s still able to speak “praise the Lord kuya” he just setting on wheelchair all the time, but you know if he’s watching wowowee he feel better and very happy, it seems like he forgot himself that he is sick, and he’s wishing to attend wowowee on your studio before he’s going to die. it’s nice if you consider accomodating on your game nannies taking care of special children. dapat kasama yung alaga nila to prove na sila ang nanny. it’s one way na mapanood sa t.v. ang mga special children. pero sa init ng araw at haba ng pila, kawawa naman sila. it’s also good to honor those nannies.

To Willie & the entire Wowowee staff,
Congratulations for putting up this great show! It’s very entertaining so much so that I don’t want to be interrupted at all whenever I’m watching it….meaning, I don’t want to answer the phone,don’t want anybody talking to me & I don’t even go to the bathroom unless it’s commercial time.All the ASF dancers need to be applauded for their daily performances. And all the co-hosts are super- gorgeous. However, I have a few negative remark about Willie’s attitude. I don’t know if he is at all aware of it or his natural tendencies just comes out. It’s not done often but at the end of the day, his behavior just bounces back to him in a very negative way. What I’m referring to ….are the times when he scolds or puts in an embarrassing situation some of the staff sa public. Akala mo kung sino syang hari na pinapagalitan ang isang maliit na pagkakamali ng isang staff. Why can’t he just wait for the show to be over then confront the mistake that’s done rather than humiliate that poor staff out right there in view of millions watching the show? And another thing that I don’t like…his poor taste in making comments sa mga matataba. It’s very rude to ridicule the weight issues of anyone much more so when said in front of so many people. And that disc jockey…please advise him not to make those thumping elephant footsteps when there is a heavyweight contestant in….napakabastos yun. Anyways, opinion ko lang naman eto. But for your show’s progress & for the benefit of all who have been ridiculed, I just need to voice these things out. Thank you & God bless.
