Games UpLate Live Scam? Or Another Technical Glitch?

Now here is another ’scandal’, ’scam’, ‘controversy’, ‘issue’ or ‘whatever you want to name it’ problem with one of the ABS-CBN shows. This time it’s the Games UpLate Live from ABS-CBN, that airs from 1230am to around 2am Monday to Saturday. To know more about the show read more below..
About the game:
Games UpLate Live is a late night game show of ABS-CBN co-produced with Endemol which airs Monday-Saturday at midnight. This is hosted by Jaymee Joaquin and sometimes by DJ Laila of 101.9 FM For Life. Viewers will be able to get the chance to win some cool prizes while participating in the interactive games and live chat. Try to figure out the word games, anagrams, puzzles as well as math problems in order to win. To join one must register first and later answer the questions posted.
On today’s show (September 28), DJ Laila is hosting the show and the program only had two games. One is ‘Guess a Body of Water’ and the other is ‘Name a Philippine Holiday’. What caught my attention on this show is the first game.
The rule of the game:
You form one English word from the letters displayed in the box.
There were many answers on each prize and these are: Pond, Lake, Geyser and Glacier
Then the top prize question of the day:
What is this one word that means a body of water where fresh water meets salt water? And this starts with a letter E
Checking from Answers.com, the only word that has this definition is Estuary (A wide body of water formed where a large river meets the sea. It contains both fresh and salt water.), and yes the P15000 answer is ESTUARY.

Now as you can see from the screen shot, here the only letter to choose from

As you can see, there is no “U”. Now, how can anyone win this P15000 prize? Is the DTI representative assigned that night looking at what is displayed on the screen? Do all people watching this show have any internet connection to check the right answer? They could have said Ebay (because of the word ‘bay’) for all I know, just to form a word from the letters posted. But the point is, this ‘technical’ error should never happen.
I think DJ Laila has no idea and has no fault on this as she only says what she is told. This is more of the one displaying the choices who made the error.
Man, this is the second technical glitch that ABS-CBN committed since the Wowowee issue. I am a regular uplate viewer pa naman…
I personally have no grudge or problem with ABS-CBN. I love ABS-CBN and all their shows. I am not watching all their TV programs looking for errors or possible reason to damage them. It just so happened that this error occurred and the management should be a lot more careful next time, even on late night shows as many people are still watching ABS-CBN at that time.

I always watch Games Uplate Live, this technical glitches or human error happen often on the show. They have a show where jaymee gave the exact answer as the example, the telephone don’t work and they can’t contact texters. Parang lahat kasi minamadali ma e air lang yung show.

Technical Glitch or not.. The show must go on…Sadly, these scams would not be noticed and would forever be kept under the rugs if no body is going to complain about them.And in the Philippines, a lawsuit would take years and lots of money to pursue…

nag-sorry na si ms. jaymee joaquin tonight. binigyan din nila ng chance ung mga nag-download kahapon to win the P15000 prize again (game -1 daw, before game 1). at least aware sila sa nangyari and they apologized. despite sa nangyari, avid viewer pa rin ako ng games uplate live and sa lahat ng mga shows ng abs-cbn. kapamilya yata ako!

i think the letters given were not necessarily the choices for the answer of the P15000 question..
as far as i remember i saw that episode..and i found nothing wrong kasi ang pagkakaintindi ko u have to give the answer for the P15000 question and disregard the choices of letters given.. kasi ang alam ko dat’s how the lst game works that time..

It’s pretty pointless if we disregard the choices. what kind of a question is it if the answer is not in the choice letters? What’s the purpose of the box with letters? If you have watched it, the rule is ‘dapat nasa letters ang sagot’. They claimed that there was a technical glitch, kaya nga they made a resolution the next day and had another P15000 contest before their usual contest.

I watched GUL earlier today. They had a board with letters, and downloaders had to form words that are names of insects. They had spider and flea, for example. However, one of the answers is ISOPOD. teka, insect ba ang isopod?
according to wikipedia: Isopods are one of the most diverse orders of crustaceans, with many species living in all environments, but are most common in shallow marine waters.

WHY IS IT I DIDN’T RECEIVED ANY DOWNLOADS SUCH RING TONES BUT THEN MY BALANCE LOAD HAD BEEN DEDUCTED. I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW IF MY ENTRIES WAS VALID ON THAT I DATE (AUG 25, 2008)….
