According to Wikipedia’s definition of plagiarism, plagiarism comes from the Latin word plagiare “to kidnap”. It is the practice of claiming, or implying, original authorship or incorporating material from someone else’s written or creative work, in whole or in part, into ones own without adequate acknowledgement. Unlike cases of forgery, in which the authenticity of the writing, document, or some other kind of object, itself is in question, plagiarism is concerned with the issue of false attribution. Plagiarism can also occur unconsciously; in some cultures certain forms of plagiarism are accepted because the concept can be interpreted differently.

Plagiarism has been a major concern in the Internet nowadays. Since articles are presented as electronic text, people can easily copy and paste content of a website into another website and when they do that, they show disrespect on the original author of the article who exerted time and effort to come up with a relevant article. I do believe that for every problem, there is a solution thus I was really happy to learn about this extremely useful software. It is called the Duplicate Content Checker. It is a very helpful tool for Webmasters to help them identify their content on the Internet across 3 major search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN and also to check their websites for duplicate content.
