Indiana Jones Movie Collection

Last night I went to SM Mall of Asia and bought “The Adventures of Indiana Jones, The Complete VCD Movie Collection” at Odyssey. It is a VCD package of all first three Indiana Jones movies that has inspired many movies like National Treasure and National Treasure Book of Secrets, The Mummy and Mummy Returns, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, and many more.

The movie series was about the adventures of Dr. Henry “Indiana” Jones, Jr. a professor of archeology and adventurer. He is portrayed as an adventurous throwback to the film serial treasure hunters, with an alter ego of Professor Jones, a respected archaeologist at a New England college. More about him here.

Indiana Jones Movie Collection

The movie collection is a set of meticolously restored and remastered frame-by-frame, THX Certified and Dolby Digital surround sound VCDs of one of the best movies of all time (if you ask me), the Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. I was very excited to grab a copy of these movies knowing that there is another Indiana Jones movie coming up this year. I also realized that I’ve never seen an Indiana Jones movie in theaters (the first three I saw on Betamax) and the upcoming movie will be my first time to see Indiana Jones on the big screen.

Heres an excerpt of the Indiana Jones movies

  1. Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) - The Nazis were looking for the Ark of the Covenant believing it is the source of Israel’s power, and use it for their war efforts. The time was on the 1930s years before World War II. Indiana Jones was tasked to find the lost Ark of the Covenant before it falls into the wrong hands.
  2. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) - Indiana Jones’ plane was rigged to crash by some of his Chinese enemies but he managed to save himself, along with his kid sidekick and his leading lady. He arrived at a depressed village in India where he was asked by the village people to save them by bringing back a sacred rock stolen from them by a vicious enemy who was treating children as slaves and sacrificing humans for their god.
  3. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) - This is perhaps the best movie of them all. The movie takes you to the events of his young life that made him become the adventurous ‘Indiana Jones’. His father (played by Sean Connery) was on a mission to find the Holy Grail but was reported missing and Indy started tracing his father’s footsteps hoping to rescue him and in the end they both found the cup of everlasting life.

There was also a TV series “The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles” that ran from 1992 to 1996. Too bad it was never shown on Philippine television.

They had the Indiana Jones VCD Collection on sale for only PHP 225.00 (USD 5.50). making it PHP 75.00 per movie. The DVD version costs around PHP 1800.00 (USD44.00) an it comes with an additional bonus content DVD. A great price for an original copy. You too grab your copy of Indiana Jones Movies Collection by buying it online

I am now looking forward to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which I think will be a next set of Indiana Jones trilogy, just like what they did with the Star Wars films. It will be shown worldwide this coming May 22, 2008. I am really expecting it to be a great movie, just the way George Lucas and Steven Spielberg made the first three movies.
