Batanes is the New Boracay

GMA Films really makes amazing movies, one of which is the Batanes movie. I haven’t seen it yet but the trailer shows the real beauty of Batanes. The movie is about a Taiwanese man who lost his way in the sea and arrived in the Philippines and fell in love with a local and lived happily ever after (?). Sources also say it’s actually a Vietnamese, not Taiwanese who was the real person behind the love story. But this post is not about the movie, it’s about Batanes.
At first glance I thought of the islands are from another country like New Zealand or something. Parang nasa abroad and dating. Its nothing like the islands I’ve been on and I would really really want to visit there someday. Too bad the commercial tour packages costs a hefty sum of over US$300 or 15000++ Pesos (This including everything, food, travel, hotel, souvenirs).

Maybe someday I might plan a long trip by land instead of the quick plane trip. The farthest I’ve been to was Baguio and I wish to go as far as Batanes. Land trips are also good for me to see the rest of the sights in the far up north provinces like Ilocos Norte. Good thing, the movie somewhat invited the rest of us Filipinos to check the almost forgotten islands on the top of the country before foreign investors try to buy the lands and build resorts and night clubs.
So will Batanes be the New Boracay? I hope not. I don’t want this place be corrupted by the ways of the new generation of people with bad and liberal culture. I’d rather keep Batanes as serene and crimeless as it currently is.
