X-Men: The Last Stand Movie Review

X-Men: The Last StandABOUT THE MOVIE
A “cure” for the mutant X gene has been discovered, which threatens the very existence of mutants like Magneto (McKellen) and Professor X (Stewart). The two leaders have opposing viewpoints on the situation: Magneto insists on a violent revolution to stop humans from exterminating their kind, while X prefers tolerance and working with the goverment on a compromise. But the balance is shifted by the shocking return of Dr. Jean Grey (Janssen), who appeared to die in a great flood. Now she’s more powerful than ever as Dark Phoenix, and if Wolverine (Jackman) can’t persuade her not to join Magneto’s crew, a war could be at hand. [source][official site]

MY MOVIE REVIEW
I would say the movie was better than Mission Impossible 3 and The Da Vinci Code put together. Maybe because I am a Marvel Comics fan for 9 years now. The costumes are still all black leather just like in the previous movies, they would probably look silly anyway if they follow the underwear-outside-the-tights attire. I also didn’t like the idea that they did not follow the stories I’ve read in comics, like Jean and Scott getting married and had a son named Cable, or Cyclops killed by Havok (Age of the Apocalypse) and the arrival of the Onslaught, a combination of Professor X and Magneto. I also noticed Wolverine and the Beast flirting each other, LOL :-D. Continue reading »

The Da Vinci Code Movie Review

The Da Vinci Code Movie ReviewThis is perhaps the most controversial movie of the year. Church leaders and high ranking politicians here in the Philippines wants the movie banned nationwide. Thanks to MTRCB, they allowed it to be shown in theatres but with a high classification as Rated R of For Adults Only because they’re afraid this might shake the faith of all weak believers.

All SM cinemas werent able to show the movie because of their strict policy of not showing Adult movies. It left me no choice but to see it somewhere else. The City of Manila also banned the showing of the movie on all its theatres.

There has been news that the pirated DVD version of the movie is already being released to the public and people of all ages are buying it. As you see, it didn’t stop the people from seeing the movie.

So the story is about a secret society, The Priory of Sion, vows to protect and keep alive the descendants of Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene. People throughout the centuries have died protecting the bloodline and it survives until the present day. Now a radical Christian group, the Opus Dei, is their number one enemy and out on a mission to destroy the bloodline and prevent the entire world from knowing the real truth on what really happened 2000 years ago.

This is heavy stuff for people who believes on everything they see. I hope not to see any new Christian religion formed after this one. Continue reading »

Mission: Impossible 3 Movie Review

Posted on May 7th, 2006 | No Comments »

ABOUT THE MOVIE
Retired from active duty, former spy Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) now spends his time training IMF agents. But when a lunatic arms dealer, Owen Davian (Philip Seymour Hoffman), threatens the life of Hunt’s girlfriend, Julia (Michelle Monaghan), the superspy gathers his crew — old buddy Luther Strickell (Ving Rhames), transportantion ace Declan (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), underground operative Zhen (Maggie Q) and newbie Lindsey (Keri Russell) — to bring her back to safety.

MY MOVIE REVIEW
Seeing all the previous Mission Impossible movies, I would say this is the best movie on all three. But it being the best movie doesn’t mean it’s worth watching in cinemas again. Almost all movie reviews on Mission Impossible 3 gave it a C+ and I agree with them. Sure, the movie is full of nice stunts and action sequences, but everything is very common on several spy movies.
